“Telepuk melambangkan kekuasaan, kehebatan dan kekayaan”

Herin was first introduced to the art of Telepuk in 2019 through a workshop, where he gained initial exposure to its techniques. His interest deepened during a more intensive programme in Besut, Terengganu, where he was able to learn the process in greater detail. Under the guidance of the late Norhaiza, he strengthened both his technical discipline and his understanding of authenticity, particularly the importance of preserving inherited forms without alteration.

As an entrepreneur specialising in tanjak and traditional Malay attire, Herin’s engagement with Telepuk was rooted in his passion for heritage craftsmanship, which later evolved into a culturally grounded business practice. Telepuk historically appears in tanjak and ceremonial garments, making it a natural extension of his craft. Rather than approaching it as a trend-driven addition, he views Telepuk as a high-value textile art associated with refinement, status, and cultural identity.

While selective in his production, Herin strategically positions Telepuk within a niche but discerning market. He recognises that its exclusivity is part of its value and believes that sustainability depends on informed appreciation rather than mass replication. Through education, engagement with collectors, and participation in relevant cultural platforms, he continues to build awareness around authentic Telepuk practice, balancing commercial viability with the responsibility of safeguarding heritage craftsmanship.
