“Telepuk adalah jalan budaya saya”
Fatimah Mohd Rashidi is a cultural practitioner whose journey into Telepuk is rooted in a deep engagement with Malay heritage and tradition. Originally from Selangor, with family roots in Perak and Terengganu, her early involvement in cultural programmes such as Majlis Maulid Agung Alam Melayu and Muzakarah Warisan Bangsa shaped her understanding of culture as a living, reflective practice. Through this exposure, her interests gradually expanded from silat martial arts and keris to the wider landscape of traditional Malay arts.
Her encounter with Telepuk began around four years ago, following a pivotal moment at a seminar by the late Adiguru Norhaiza, where she was introduced to Telepuk. Intrigued by the craft’s subtlety and depth, Fatimah went on to formally study Telepuk through foundational classes and specialised programmes. Learning under the Adiguru proved transformative, instilling in her a strong discipline of humility, patience, and the importance of approaching knowledge with openness rather than certainty.
For Fatimah, Telepuk is more than an art form — it is a lifelong cultural journey of self-discovery and responsibility. She views the practice as a means of reconnecting with inherited values and carrying forward a legacy entrusted by past generations. Motivated by the desire to preserve and pass on this knowledge, she continues to practise Telepuk with the intention that its cultural, ethical, and spiritual dimensions remain alive for those who come after her.
